Charah has over ten years of experience operating and managing the landfills that coal-fired stations utilize to dispose of the ash created by burning coal for the production of electricity. Charah completes all aspects of the landfill management scope of work including:
- Maintaining and operating ash silos and conditioning equipment.
- Collecting and transporting ash to the landfill site or reclaiming it from ponds or other storage facilities or areas.
- Placing and compacting the conditioned ash material in specified lifts in accordance with approved design plans.
- Placing topsoil and establishing vegetation and drainage facilities in areas that have maximized the specified fill area.
- Maintaining adequate dust control services and exemplary cleanliness in the operating areas during all disposal activities.
Charah understands that each landfill site is different and will work with the utility to customize an operating plan specific to the needs and regulations of each individual site.
