Charah, Inc. Celebrates 20 Years (3/27/2007)
LOUISVILLE, KY (March 27, 2007) – 2007 is a milestone year for Charah®, Inc., a leading ash management provider for the coal-fired electric utility industry, as the company celebrates its 20th Anniversary.
Since the company was founded in 1987 in Madisonville, KY by Charles and Janet Price, Charah has been committed to serving the ash management needs of the coal-fired electric utility industry providing the highest quality in performance and innovative solutions that are environmentally conscious. Now based in Louisville, Charah offers a complete line of ash management services, including landfill management and operations, bottom ash processing and marketing, structural fill applications, beneficial use projects, ash pond management and Integrated Gasification Combine Cycle (IGCC) slag beneficiation.
In addition to landfill management operations and other material handling projects, Charah annually processes and markets approximately 500,000 tons of bottom ash to the concrete block and concrete mix industries in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, Missouri and Alabama. Ash management clients include Ameren, Duke Energy, E.ON U.S., Progress Energy, Reliant Energy and Southern Company, among others.

In April 2005, the company was awarded the prestigious C2P2 first-place Award for Innovation for its outstanding achievements in increasing the amount of coal combustion products (CCPs) beneficially used. Charah's award was for its achievements in developing a new, patent-pending concrete mix and packaging currently being sold at The Home Depot stores.
