About Charah
Founded in 1987, Charah, Inc. is a company committed to serving the ash management needs of the coal-fired power generation industry. We provide the highest quality in performance and innovative solutions that are environmentally conscious. By using our expertise to manage ash materials, Charah allows its customers to fully concentrate on their primary responsibility of producing electricity.
In addition to general landfill management and operations, the company also designs, builds and operates ash processing systems and then markets the ash products with a strong focus on bottom ash recycling. Charah is a proven specialist in bottom ash recycling and its patent-pending concrete mixtures offer the coal-fired power generation industry alternate and environmentally acceptable ways to recycle ash. Additionally, Charah has developed a patent-pending process for Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) slag beneficiation, one of the most promising new technologies available for IGCC facilities today.

Charah is a charter member of the EPA's Coal Combustion Products Partnership (C2P2) which encourages beneficial use of coal by-products. In April 2005, Charah was awarded the C2P2 first place for Innovation by the EPA for its outstanding achievements in increasing the amount of coal combustion products (CCPs) beneficially used. Charah was recognized for its commendable achievements in developing a new, patent-pending concrete mix which is currently sold under the QUIKRETE® brand name at The Home Depot® stores in the Virginia and St. Louis markets.
